Hundreds of homes in the far stretches of Huron County can expect to have high-speed internet by the end of the summer.
The provincial and federal governments are investing $1.7 million to expand broadband internet this summer to Henfryn, Wroxeter, Gorrie, Fordwich, and Summerhill.
It is expected the internet will be running in 800 additional homes by July.
The update is part of Project SWIFT (SouthWestern Integrated Fibre Technology), an undertaking that began with the previous provincial government to expand high-speed internet to the far stretches of rural Ontario.
More than $255 million has been invested by the governments of Canada and Ontario and the private sector, to bring high-speed internet to more than 63,000 households and businesses in Southwestern Ontario through SWIFT by the end of 2025.
