A $50,000 donation is being made to the Saugeen Shores Housing Fund to support housing for residents.
The town says the donation made on April 20, came from Rice Development Corp., the same builder who is constructing the Westlinks subdivision on the east end of Port Elgin.
The donation to housing fund will assist in the municipality’s strategy to make housing accessible to all residents.
Company Principal Rod Rice says they have invested in Saugeen Shores for over a decade.
“We understand that diverse forms of housing better serve the community as a whole and let everyone contribute to the town’s success,” says Rice.
The development on the Westlinks neighbourhood started in 2017, after Rice Development purchased the Piper’s Glen golf course.
“We are leveraging our growth to make Saugeen Shores a town where everyone can find a place to live. Generous donations from our housing partners – like Rice Development – will help us to provide housing for all in our community,” says Mayor Luke Charbonneau.
The town says the developer plans to continue housing construction in the community for several more years.
