Governor General Mary Simon is undertaking her first official visit to Ontario, starting today.
During her visit, the Governor General will meet with the Lieutenant Governor, Premier Doug Ford, Indigenous leaders, and members of the Ukrainian community.
This will be Simon’s first official visit since her installation and it is part of a larger objective of visiting each province and territory to engage with Canadians from across the country.
She has served as the 30th governor general of Canada since July 26, 2021 and is the first indigenous person to hold the office.
