The City of Owen Sound has released its report on council’s pay and expenses for 2021.
In all, more than $269,000 was spent on salaries, per diems and expenses of Owen Sound councillors last year. That’s down slightly from about $273,000 in 2020.
Mayor Ian Boddy was the top earner at a salary of $56,760. Deputy Mayor Brian O’Leary took home just over $28,700; all other Owen Sound councillors received $25,051 in remuneration in 2021.
When it comes to expenses, Coun. Carol Merton ran up the highest bill among councillors: $1,318.
Deputy Mayor Brian O’Leary charged city taxpayers the least for costs related to his work as a councillor last year: $185.14.
Expenses reported by others on council are as follows:
Mayor Ian Boddy — $1,198 (council/police board)
Coun. John Tamming — $1,190 (police board)
Coun. Travis Dodd — $1,085
Coun. Marion Koepke — $634
Coun. Brock Hamley — $547
Coun. Scott Greig — $249 (council/conservation authority)
Coun. Richard Thomas — $243
The city also spent just over $6,900 combined on per diems and expenses for non-council members (chair) on the Police Services Board and the Committee of Adjustment.
