An Orillia area doctor is among those helping Ukrainian refugees arriving in Poland.
Dr. Jeff Pitcher is volunteering at the Medyka border point and has also been raising funds to purchase medical supplies.
In a Facebook post, he describes treating people who’ve made long journeys on foot– after spending weeks hiding in cold underground shelters. The physician says he has also received help from Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare and Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital in getting supplies.
