Logo: Award-winning Huron Hygge Program
An initiative by the County of Huron is receiving national accolades.
Huron County Economic Development’s tourism and marketing team has won the 2021 Marketing Canada Award from the Economic Developer’s Association of Canada (EDAC) for the 2021 Huron Hygge program.
Hygge (pronounced hue-guh) is a Danish concept that encompasses feelings of cozy contentment and well-being through the enjoyment of the simple things in life.
Economic development officials used this concept as a winter marketing campaign to support the local tourism sector through the first winter of the pandemic.
In winter 2021, the Huron community was:
- Cooking with locally sourced ingredients
- Enjoying take-out paired with virtual concerts
- Taking part in social activities designed to be enjoyed from home
- Creating art and making crafts
- Rejuvenating with wellness programs
