A 27-year-old woman faces a number of charges after fleeing an Owen Sound Police RIDE check over the weekend.
City Police say the female driver failed to stop at a RIDE on 14th Street West just after 5 p.m. Saturday evening, speeding off from the area.
Police say she was driving a 2019 Hyundai Elantra reported stolen from the Guelph area.
The female suspect ended up crashing into a snowbank at the dead-end on 14th Street West.
She and a male passenger then fled the vehicle as several officers arrived in the area.
Thanks to the assistance of residents in the neighborhood, Owen Sound Police officers were able to locate and arrest both suspects.
The female driver was found hiding in a shed. According to police, she was later evaluated by a drug recognition expert and deemed impaired.
Police say the 27-year-old woman was also wanted on outstanding warrants out of the City of Guelph and Wellington County.
She was charged with numerous offences including Impaired Operation of a Conveyance by Drugs, Failing to Stop for Police, Dangerous Driving, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and several breaches of court orders.
