A small protest of about a dozen people has gathered outside the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit office on Sperling Drive in Barrie today.
The group of parents says it is protesting mask mandates for children in schools across the region.
One of the event organizers, Krystal Tucci, explained why the protest was being held.
Some of the protesters arrived in vehicles covered in Canada flags and said they were concerned about their message being misunderstood because of what recently happened with the so-called Freedom Convoy in Ottawa, where several people are now facing charges due to anti-mandate protests.
Our 15 Sperling Drive, Barrie office is closed to the public Mon., Feb. 28 due to a planned protest against public health measures. We will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tues. am. All other health unit offices and Health Connection line remain open. We apologize for this inconvenience. pic.twitter.com/DVRylWaMzc
