All weather warnings have ended for our region, but thanks to heavy rain ahead of a flash freeze, there are very icy road conditions reported across the region this morning.
The forecast is calling for flurries and the risk of freezing rain today, as the temperature plummets well below seasonal with a high near minus 12-14 degrees Celsius.
As a result there have been several bus cancellations. They include:
- Simcoe County North (Elmvale, Midland, Penetanguishene & Orillia) and West Zones (Collingwood, Stayner & Wasaga Beach), but schools remain open for student learning.
- All vehicles to SMCDSB schools in Parry Sound and Muskoka have also been cancelled, along with all buses to schools in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton, and Muskoka for TLDSB. However, those schools are closed to students and remote learning will be offered to all students within the region.
- In addition, all school vehicles to St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School, Monsignor Michael O’Leary and Saint Mary Catholic Elementary Schools have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, the OPP is dealing with several crashes, including Highway 400 NB at Hwy 93 in Springwater which remains closed due to a rollover, and Highway 11 in both directions through the Utterson area.
