Brockton Council has approved the 2022 Tax Supported Municipal Operating and Capital Budget.
A release from the municipality says it will come with a total tax rate increase of 3.51 per cent and a total levy of $10,432,163.
A staff report says that would equal $79.32 per year or $6.61 per month for the average household.
Some highlights from the 2022 Municipal Budget include:
$2.25 million for the reconstruction of the Riversdale Bridge in Greenock
$2.25 million for the replacement of the Trunk Main on County Road 2
$1.8 million for the reconstruction of Yonge Street in Walkerton
$700,000 for the reconstruction of Concession 14 E Brant
$452,000 for the maintenance and redesign of the North Water Tower
$250,000 for the Durham Street River Crossing Water Main.
$108,000 for the updated Master Recreation Plan
The 2022 Municipal Budget also includes financial commitments towards the expansion of the East Ridge Business Park for a total project estimate of $6.3 million with Phase 1 set to begin in March.
The release says, the development of the Market Garden on Durham Street in Walkerton is also proceeding to construction for an estimated project cost of $239,000 funded by a combination of donations, grant funding and reserve funds.
Other items in the budget include the Community Improvement Plan and an e-Permitting system.
Chief Administrative Officer, Sonya Watson says in a statement,”Brockton continues to see positive growth and Council and staff are working diligently to meet the needs of a growing community and position Brockton favorably. Through continued investments in roads, water and wastewater infrastructure and recreational amenities we are enhancing the facilities and infrastructure to support our current and future residents to maintain the strong sense of pride in this community.”
