It’s time to leave.
That’s the message to the trucker convoys and blockades across the province today from Premier Doug Ford.
He made the comment after declaring a State of Emergency in the Province.
Ford said while he appreciates the right to protest, it does not outweigh the rights of people to live peacefully and get food across our borders.
“You’ve been heard loud and clear – Canada has heard you – my message to those still in Ottawa, to those at our border crossings – please go home,” said Ford.
Ford says there will be severe consequences for the blockade’s actions.
He says police force powers are being strengthened as we speak in order to restore order
Cabinet will enact orders to make it illegal to impede the movements of goods, services, and people along critical infrastructure with maximum penalties as high as $100,000 and a year in prison.
It would also see personal and commercial licenses taken away from those who impede the orders.
"This is a pivotal moment for our nation," says Ontario Premier Doug Ford after declaring state of emergency aimed at ending blockades. "The eyes of the world are upon us right now. And what they are seeing is not who we are—It’s not what Canada's about," he says of the protests. pic.twitter.com/Qoq7HpNnYb
