Premier Doug Ford says when it comes to the trucker border vaccination mandate, he supports vaccination.
Asked today if he supported the Federal government’s mandate on truckers, that they must be vaccinated in order to cross the border, he says his position is clear.
“I believe in getting vaccinated,” he said. “You know, on the trucker’s side, I’ve always supported truckers from day one, but I support vaccinations. (It’s) very simple – that’s how we’ve been able to slowly get out of this and that’s how we are going to continue to slowly get out of it. People may disagree – one side or the other – but I’m going to support getting vaccinated.”
Canada and the US have both made it mandatory to be vaccinated against the virus in order to bring loads across the border.
Referring to the Ottawa situation where a Trucker Protest Convoy’s been since the start of the weekend, Ford said it’s time to let the people of the capital get back to their lives and that the restaurants there want to reopen.
Ford says he appreciates the work truckers have done throughout the pandemic and he mentioned that 90 percent of them in the country are vaccinated, so he wants to thank all of them.
