Owen Sound Police are applauding area snowmobile riders after performing a RIDE check over the weekend.
City Police say officers partnered with members of the Eastside Snowmobile Club Saturday morning as stopped passing snowmobiles who rode the trail near the south end of Harrison Park in Owen Sound.
Police say riders were check not only for sobriety, but also that they had proper documentation and a valid trail permit under the Provincial Motorized Snow Vehicles Act.
“Education was further provided by Eastside Snowmobile Club District President, Kevin Matheson, and Greg Testori, who were there to remind riders to keep their speeds low as they travel the multi-use trail where it is shared with hikers and other park users,” police say.
Owen Sound Police say officers were pleased to see 100 per cent compliance from all 52 snowmobilers who came through the spot check.
