The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) is reporting 227 new COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths.
Deaths include three Muskoka residents and five people from Simcoe County – they were seniors all above the age of 80 and included four men and four women.
Today’s update also includes 9 new hospitalizations. There are currently 7 people in ICU throughout the region with the virus.
To date, 86 percent of the region’s over 5 population has received its first vaccine dose while 81 percent has received its second.
