The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) is reporting 281 new COVID-19 cases today and six deaths.
The deaths include one person from Muskoka, a woman over the age of 79, and five people from Simcoe County, two men over the age 79, a woman between the ages of 45 and 64, and two women between the ages of 65 and 79
Today’s update also includes 12 new hospitalizations. There are currently 50 people in hospital in the region due to the virus. Six patients are in ICUs.
To date, 85 percent of the region’s over 5 population has received a first vaccine dose while 80 percent has received their second. 42 percent of the region’s over 18 population has received a third/booster dose.
