Some concerned citizens have helped the OPP arrest two suspected drunk drivers in South Georgian Bay over the weekend.
On January 16, 2022 at 8:32 p.m. officers attended the area of the Mountainview Plaza and the Huronia Mall on Simcoe County Road 93, Midland to observe for a possible impaired driver which was located in the Shoppers’s Drug Mart parking lot. After a drinking and driving investigation was completed, the driver Ryan STEVENSON 19 years of Innisfil was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and further with Operation while impaired – alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
On January 14, 2022 at 5:51 p.m. responded to several driving complaints involving a green Dodge pick-up on Robert Street East, Penetanguishene which resulted in the suspect vehicle being stopped on Maria Street. After an drinking and driving investigation, Joshua GREEN 39 years of Tiny Township has been charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and further with Operation while impaired – alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
Both involved vehicles have been towed and impounded for 7 days and the accused’s drivers licences have suspended for 30 days as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
Both accused persons were released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 27, 2022 on these charges.
