The Province is starting to see glimmers of hope.
Today Health Minister Christine Elliott says Omicron cases are expected to peak in Ontario this month.
And Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore says it’s an encouraging sign.
“While this gives me more hope we must remain cautious and humble in the face of this aggressive virus and the most important thing we can all do as the minister has said is get vaccinated,” said Moore.
Elliott adds that Omicron is proving to be not as severe as the Delta variant with fewer hospital and ICU patients although still with higher transmission.
This gives the Province confidence, but Elliott says February will still pose challenges especially for hospitals.
Given current trends, Elliott says the Province is increasingly confident it can deal with the situation.
She also says she will also be sending a letter to the college of surgeons urging that they review the licenses of doctors who spread misinformation about vaccines.
The Province is expected to provide an update on the Provincial picture and moves forward later this week.
