Quebec could soon be imposing an “unvax tax”.
Premier François Legault made the announcement yesterday, in response to rising COVID-19 cases in the province.
Legault said, “Even though unvaccinated adults only make up 10% of the population, they make up half of the COVID hospitalizations in intensive care. This means that unvaccinated adults are 9 times more likely to be hospitalized than vaccinated adults. This is a huge burden on our health network. This is why we are considering a payable health contribution for all adults who refuse, for non-medical reasons, to get vaccinated.”
While the exact amount has yet to be determined by the government, Legault said it will be a “significant” amount, adding “$50 or $100 ” would not be enough.
