Police say the incident happened back on Dec. 23, just after 12:30 p.m.
A Huron County Ontario Provincial Police officer pulled over onto the shoulder of Bluewater Veteran’s Highway with his emergency lights activated to assist a driver who was changing a flat tire.
Shortly after doing so, a northbound sport utility collided with the rear of the police vehicle launching it forward into the disabled vehicle.
OPP say, fortunately, the officer and the family in the disabled vehicle were not injured— but upon checking on the driver of the SUV, the officer noted the driver had sustained some minor injuries. The driver was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and later released into police custody.
