A suspected COVID-19 outbreak is being investigated at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
A patient in its Integrated Medicine and Rehabilitation Services (IMRS) Unit has tested positive for the virus.
The hospital says all other patients on the unit have tested negative to date, and are safely quarantining in their rooms, while enhanced cleaning and surveillance protocols have been implemented.
“The OSMH Team is taking all necessary measures to limit the spread of this highly transmissible Omicron variant.” said Carmine Stumpo, OSMH President and CEO. “We appreciate the support and patience of our community as we continue to serve during this challenging phase of the pandemic.”
All urgent and emergent health services remain open to the community, recognizing that wait times in the Emergency Department may be prolonged.
