Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.
Pete’s Auto Body; because we care about our community.
No matter where you turn, somebody, somewhere, in some forum will tell you what a lousy year it’s been even as we hit a special time of the calendar; Christmas.
I’m not here to argue that 2021 has overall been a downer, but I will say from January 1st to this very moment, there have been some terrific moments, sportswise or otherwise.
One example from a CFOS standpoint would be Knights of Columbus Radio Bingo which has generated huge, and much needed, financial resources to the Canadian Mental Health Association for their youth programs.
I think The Great Paul Hill would agree that the CFOS audience has come through once again for his show, staying loyal and highly supportive of his many activities and contests, be they sanctioned, or unauthorized.
In 2021, my mother, Mary Aileen Wallace passed away. There’s no question I’d much rather have my Mom coordinating Christmas, but what remains are the legacy and life lessons passed on through 90+ years well lived.
I’m sure a lot of people in the audience who have experienced a departure this year fell pretty much the same.
And there’s more….
There is great pride in seeing youngsters I once coached for the Blue Jackets, the Penguins and McDonald’s Red, still playing hockey, and playing well as they also have started their high school years.
And looking ahead, you don’t have to look to far to sense the excitement of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada or the Port Elgin Chrysler 22 Ontario Tankard powered by Bruce Power.
The year 2021, might be best forgotten in the long run, but by the same token, it is worth celebrating, this Christmas season, and reminding ourselves that’s it’s possible a little bit of magic can be found in every day no matter what year we’re talking about
Merry Christmas
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
