The 2022 Fire & Ice Festival has been canceled.
Organizers of the annual Festival in Downtown Bracebridge have announced that the 7th annual event scheduled for January 29, 2022, is being canceled due to the uncertainty surrounding the rising number of COVID-19 cases across the province.
Over the past many months, members of the Fire and Ice organizing committee have been working tirelessly to bring an exciting event to life.
The event brings over 10,000 people to the downtown to celebrate everything winter – from the snow tube run to roasting marshmallows on an open fire.
However, with the decreasing capacity limits in businesses along with the requirement to ensure social distancing is maintained at outdoor events, organizers determined that the nature of the event and volume of visitors would not allow a safe environment for volunteers, visitors and staff.
“It’s very disappointing that we’ll all miss the Fire and Ice Festival with the tube run, fire performers, lumberjack show, ice sculptures, fireworks show, and all of the wonderful programming again this year.
However, we will begin to plan for a fantastic return and celebration in January 2023,” said Lindsay Alexander, President of the Bracebridge BIA. “We want to thank our incredible sponsors and volunteers. A huge thank you to Norstar, JSW, Fowler Construction, Stan Darling Insurance, Simcoe Block Bracebridge, and Mattamy Homes for sponsoring the 2022 event – we look forward to working with you in 2023!”
The 2023 event details will be announced later in 2022.
