Omicron is officially in Simcoe-Muskoka.
The health unit had previously reported 26 suspected cases of the new variant in the region, but 19 of them were officially confirmed on its website yesterday (Monday).
It also reported 407 new COVID-19 cases in its first update from the weekend, which is a new record.
Among the new cases are 77 children, while another six people have been hospitalized due to the virus.
In addition, of the new cases, 184 are variants, and there are currently 28 active COVID-19 outbreaks in the region with known variant cases.
