The Town of Collingwood is encouraging you to ‘Bring on The Light’.
It is offering a variety of free programs and opportunities designed to build social connections as a means of bringing light into the dark.
Bring On the Light will feature social skating nights each Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., for five weeks, beginning December 22nd at the outdoor skating rink at Central Park. Enjoy festive lights and glide to some great music with friends and family, or just sit by the bonfire as it lights up the night sky. These program components are weather permitting.
Participate in self-guided programs throughout Heritage Park, Legion Park, Central Park and along our trails.
Activities include the Watchful Eyes Scavenger Hunt at Georgian Meadow Trail, Story Walks at Heritage Park and along the Train Trail beginning at the Museum or check out ‘Words in the Park’ for great photo opportunities. Enjoy a stroll with your favourite warm beverage while reading the Lamp Post Light Verses or add your special message to the Word Walls.
For those who like to ‘DIY,’ visit the Collingwood Public Library to pick up an all-ages art kit designed by local fibre artist Natasha Koledin. Each free kit will contain supplies to complete a light-inspired woven art piece at home to be displayed at the library during Bring on the Light. Once again, quantities are limited and will be offered while supplies are available beginning December 21st. Another great reason to visit our beautiful Library.
Then, visit our local Museum to pick up a free lantern craft kit, starting January 7th! Kids will enjoy decorating their own mason jar lanterns and watching the warm glow of light. Quantities are limited, so get yours before they’re gone.
Bring on your light this holiday season and discover our outdoor installations, inspiring social connections and activities supporting well-being.
The event begins tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 21) and runs through to January 21st.
