Various facilities in Owen Sound are adjusting their hours of operation over the holidays.
Services including City Hall and all offices will be closed as of noon on Dec. 24 to the 27, as well as on Jan. 3. It will then reopen on Jan. 4 at 8:30 a.m.
The Tom Thomson Art Gallery will also be closed on Dec. 24 to the 28, and on Dec. 31 to Jan 1.
The gallery will, however, be open on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 between noon and 4 p.m., before returning to normal hours on Jan. 3.
The Owen Sound and North Grey Public Library will be closed from Dec. 24 to Dec. 27. It will close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, before returning to regular hours on Jan. 3.
There will be no changes to the garbage and recycling collection schedule over the holidays. The Miller Waste Transfer Station, however, will be closed by 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 to 8 a.m. Dec. 27. The station will close once again by 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 8 a.m. Jan. 3.
During this time, residents are asked to keep their recycling in a dry location to avoid paper becoming water logged or frozen. Stacking recycling bins can also be a method to avoid items from being blown away.
The Owen Sound Composting Facility will stick to its regular hours of 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the holiday season, as residents will be able to dispose of their Christmas trees at the facility.
Before taking your tree to the facility at 2800 28th Street East, free of charge, make sure all ornaments, decorations, lights, and tinsel are removed. Also ensure the tree is out of a plastic bag. Artificial trees and trees sprayed with snow foam will not be accepted.
The Owen Sound Transit Terminal will be closing at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24, with buses leaving the terminal at that time for their final run.
There will be no transit services either on Dec. 25 and Dec. 27, with services returning to their normal schedule through Dec. 28 to Dec. 31. There will be no service on Jan. 1, before it returns to regular service on Jan. 3.
The Owen Sound to Guelph Transit service will not be running on Dec. 24 and 25. It will then reopen at noon on Dec. 26.
The Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25, and reopen on Dec. 26.
The centre will close at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31, before returning to regular hours on Jan. 3.
The Harry Lumley Community Centre will be open on Dec. 24 until noon, and will be closed on Dec. 25 and 26.
The centre will close at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will reopen for the Owen Sound Attack game on Jan. 1, before returning to regular hours on Jan. 3.
