Ramara Township has ratified its 2022 Budget.
It includes a 2.86 per cent tax increase (1.57 per cent combined rate), which results in an extra $45 a year per $300,000 in home assessment value.
In 2022, the Township of Ramara will retain $0.56 for every dollar of property taxes collected, while the rest will go to the school board and the County of Simcoe.
“Council approved the Township’s 2022 Budget and 10-year Capital Plan that focuses on financially sound decisions, efficiencies and maximizing every tax dollar,” reported Mayor Basil Clarke.
“I want to express my appreciation to the members of Council, staff and residents in Ramara for their dedication, hard work and valuable contributions in the budget process. This year’s budget well-positions the municipality financially without sacrificing services, service levels or future needs.”
These are the following highlights from the 2022 Budget:
- $17.7M for operating expenses.
- $11.6M in capital projects that include:
Road repairs, such as Ramara Road 47, Concession Road 3 and Canal Road
New equipment and vehicles, including tandem snowplow and fire and rescue truck. - Interactive Citizen portal system that will enhance customer service and access to information.
- Two per cent cost of living increase on all salaries and wages.
- 13 per cent Increase in Ramara Township public library grant.
- Capital projects funded by Water and Wastewater levy: Updates to water treatment and wastewater treatment plants, such as Lagoon City Pump refurbishment, repair of Lift station 4 and Basins Cleaning.
