Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra is echoing recommendations to encourage employers to let their workers operate from home.
On Dec. 10, the Ontario government in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, made this recommendation in response to the emerging Covid Omicron variant.
The health unit says they understand during this holiday season, many businesses face challenges to have their employees work from home.
Dr. Arra, however, is encouraging employers in the region to allow their staff to work from home whenever possible
If businesses are not able to have their employees work from home, they will need to follow the needed precautions to keep their staff and customers safe.
These include:
-Staying home if sick
-Requiring all staff screen before their shift
-Screen customers, by posting signs about Covid, and active screening if needed by Chief Medical Officer of Health
-Enforce vaccine policies as needed
-Physical distancing and line management
-Have masks and hand hygiene available at entry and exit of business
-Ensure the workplace has a Covid safety plan in place
The Ontario government says, on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and those who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated in particular, should limit their social gatherings, both attending and hosting.
As part of a multi-faceted approach to make sure Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) measures are in place, the Ontario government says all health-care settings will need to hold IPAC self-audits. Updated guidance on ventilation will also be released to make sure standards are met.
