Many homes and businesses in Bruce and Grey counties that lost power due to Saturday’s wind storm have the lights back on, but there are still some ongoing isolated outages hydro crews are working to restore in the region.
According to Hydro One, one of the larger ongoing outages is affecting more than 900 customers in the Markdale area. It’s expected to be restored by 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
There are several other isolated outages across the region still being addressed as well, affecting a handful of hydro customers in several communities including Southampton, Sauble Beach, Annan, Greenock and Durham, among others.
Estimated restoration times vary, but most outages are expected to be restored by Monday evening.
Wind gusts of more than 100 km/h swept across Grey Bruce and the rest of Ontario on Saturday, toppling over trees, downing power lines and damaging hydro poles.
Hydro One says more than 490,000 of its customers across the province have experienced power outages in what it’s calling “one of the worst wind storms in recent years.”
It says crews have restored power to approximately 410,000 customers across Ontario thus far.
