The Grey Bruce Health Unit says St. Mary’s High School is closing for in-person learning and moving to online learning, following a Covid outbreak of five cases.
The health unit is collaborating with the Bruce-Grey Catholic School Board and the high school, after 11 cohorts and one bus have been identified and impacted related to this outbreak.
The school is making the decision to close out of caution of the cohort dismissals, and not out of direction from public health.
The health unit says they commend the school board on being proactive and having alternative plans for virtual learning.
Those who have contracted Covid have been contacted directly, and have identified all others, both in and out of the school environment who may have been exposed and have determined their risk level.
The cohorts who have been identified as contacts have been excluded from school at this time, according to the health unit.
