Bayshore Broadcasting’s 97.9 The Bruce is holding a radiothon to raise money for hospital equipment.
It will go from 6 a.m to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 9th and will raise money for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Light the Way Campaign.
The campaign is called “Bring Tom to Town” because the ‘CT’ stands for computed Tomography.
Foundation Executive Director Tracy Murray says in a statement, “The $3 million campaign hopes to bring a CT scanner to the hospital in Saugeen Shores which would benefit people right across Bruce County.”
Murray says the CT scanner in Owen Sound is running over capacity and wait times are increasing. The new CT scanner in Saugeen Shores would off-set some of the more routine patient traffic from the Owen Sound machine so that wait times for some of the more specialized CT scans and procedures will be reduced and more of these types of scans could be
done.
Participants in the radiothon will Rock the Bruce with 12 straight hours of music, stories, a put our listeners live on the air.
Organizers say there will be lots of prizes to be won throughout the day and some great auction items to bid on including a 4 pack of Raptors tickets, platinum Row 3.
Listeners will be encouraged to drop by the radio station that day to make a donation, enjoy some
free coffee, and get in on the fun.
You can also call (519-832-GIVE) to donate, challenge other local businesses or friends and family to meet or beat your donation. You may even find yourself live on the air where you can share your challenge to others, talk about your business and just have some fun.
This year’s Radiothon goal is to raise $200,000 during the 12 hour event.
