The Grey Bruce Health Unit has released initial vaccine coverage data and feedback, gathered from parents and guardians, from the first week of vaccine clinics for five to 11 year olds.
As of Thursday morning (Dec 2nd) 1,171 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to those between the ages of five and 11 years in Grey and Bruce.
The Health Unit says this segment of Grey Bruce has an estimated population of 13,005. That translates to an approximate first dose coverage rate of 9 per cent.
A list of clinics is available on Public Health’s Clinic Schedule. They say many appointments remain available for these clinics. If you would like to book, call the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900, or go online at How to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment (ontario.ca). Appointments can also be made at participating primary care providers and pharmacies in Grey Bruce.
The Health Unit says all its clinics accommodate those five to 11 years of age with an appointment, but it does have pediatric clinics which are specifically geared towards kids where the aim is to provide welcoming and safe environment for them.
Public Health’s daily COVID-19 report for December 2nd says overall, 251,844 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey and Bruce to date.
