Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

It’s neat to see the concept of an activity start to grow into reality.
Last week officials from both Scotiabank and Sportsnet were in the city of Owen Sound for facility tours, planning sessions and eventually an official launch to Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada.
You can sit in a room and have all kinds of strategy sessions, but when the players take the field, suddenly there’s a shift in gears.
At the news conference you could hear the outline of the schedule and easily visualize the many activities that are slated for Grey Roots, The Roxy, Heartwood Hall, various Bluewater schools and of course the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre, the JD McArthur Arena, the Bob Rutherford Hall and the Shore Room at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
And like a match to a well built fire, instantly there was positive reaction and feedback from almost every corner.
Of course, the news conference was aided greatly by the appearance of Ron MacLean who expressed his anticipation of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada at Owen Sound.
MacLean is extremely generous and genuine; it’s not an act and as a result, his voice and perception makes him among the most trusted people, certainly in broadcasting, and maybe country wide.
There’s more planning ahead at both the upper and local levels, but the puck has been dropped and everything is rolling towards Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada January 26th-29th in Owen Sound.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
