Wasaga Beach mayor Nina Bilfolchi has revealed she has tested positive for COVID-19, despite being double-vaccinated against the virus.
She revealed the news during council’s zoom meeting yesterday.
Bifolchi is one of several members of the corporation, who has tested positive for the virus in the past few days, including firefighters. She is encouraging everyone to not be ashamed of sharing their vaccination status with others.
However, officials say all of the positive cases involving vaccinated individuals have only included mild symptoms, similar to a seasonal cold.
Almost 90 percent of the town’s workforce is vaccinated.
It is not clear how the individuals contracted the virus – that is under investigation.
Town council meets at 2 p.m. today. See our agenda here: https://t.co/bDS9aShxxT #MovingWBForward #WasagaBeach pic.twitter.com/AX1UMi6BWZ
