The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board posted a surplus of just over $900,000 in its 2020-21 fiscal year.
The Board of Trustees approved year-end financial statements at its meeting on Monday.
The school board’s total expenditures in 2020-21 were over $74.4-million. More than 71 per cent of the board’s spending was instructional costs, such as teacher and education worker compensation.
Grey Bruce’s catholic school board made over $5-million in capital investments. Among the improvements to its facilities were a two-room childcare addition to St. Teresa of Calcutta in Walkerton, a roof replacement at Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton and a playground at Immaculate Conception School in Formosa. The board also invested in HVAC unit upgrades, new touchless water-bottle filling stations and various technology infrastructure improvements at its schools.
Average daily enrolment in 2020-21 was 4,547 students in the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, a slight decline from 4,586 kids the year prior.
