Bruce County is renewing a five-year agreement with the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs to allow the volunteer run organization’s member clubs legal access to county lands.
The housekeeping item was discussed at the county’s Transportation and Environment Services Committee meeting on Nov. 18.
Bruce County’s Director of Transportation Miguel Pelletier told committee members the county has existing agreements with the snowmobile clubs to allow them to use certain county trails and forests. They were set to expire at the end of this year and are being renewed for another five years.
“There hasn’t been any problems with those agreements,” Pelletier says. “…It’s well organized. When we have issues they react quickly and we have a good working relationship with them.”
A report by Pelletier says the agreement was negotiated and accepted in principle by District 9 of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, which represents member organizations in Bruce County.
