The OPP is investigating the discovery of human remains in Huntsville.
On Sunday, a member of the public called the OPP to report human remains located on a property near Gryffin Lodge Road.
56-year-old Richard Pitt of Huntsville was arrested in relation to the incident and has been charged with Indignity to Human Remains.
Today he appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.
The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
The Ontario Forensic Pathology Service is trying to determine the identity of the person associated with the located human remains.
OPP Provincial Constable Jeff Handsor tells Country 102 the case is now subject to a court-ordered publication ban, which means further details pertaining to the court proceedings in relation to the incident aren’t being made public.
