The Owen Sound Attack have completed a sequence of housecleaning duties.
Over the past dew days, the Attack have dispatched a previous draft pick in Brayden Hislop to Saginaw, acquired forward William Portokalis from Mississauga and then uncluttered the goal crease and overage picture by dealing netminder Mack Guzda to Barrie.
Hislop, a defender, was putting up a point a game with the Elmira Sugar Kings but it appeared highly unlikely he’d ever have an opportunity in Owen Sound with 3 overage defenders on the roster plus as many as 6 defenceman eligible to return next season.
Portokalis is a 19 year old forward who will join a youthful group of Attack forwards who, in my view, have shown great potential. Where Portokalis fits in is entirely up to him.
And the dealing of Guzda eliminates two overcrowded areas; one in the goal crease and the other in terms of overage players.
Guzda’s departure leaves Nick Chenard & rookie Corbin Votary to tend the goal and also means Igor Chibrikov, Andrew Perrott and captain Mark Woolley as overagers with the club.
The new look Attack will be at Guelph tomorrow night and then home to Saginaw on Saturday
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.

The Ontario Hockey League transaction that had overage netminder Mack Guzda going from the Owen Sound Attack to the Barrie Colts has hit a ” snag ” according to Attack General Manager Dale DeGray
Tuesday night it was confirmed that the Guzda had been dealt to Barrie in exchange for 2 OHL Priority Selection picks; a 5th in 2022 and a 3rd in 2023.
However, the OHL web site didn’t post the transaction and when contacted, DeGray refused to clarify or elaborate other than to say he’d be interested to see how this unfolds
