A Snow Squall Watch is in effect for most of Simcoe County and Muskoka.
Environment Canada is warning of lake effect snow squalls, which are expected to develop late this afternoon or evening and continue into Friday.
It says local snowfall accumulation of 15 cm is expected, with higher amounts possible for areas under the heaviest snow squall bands. In addition to the snowfall, reduced visibility in blowing snow is also anticipated, so motorists should be prepared for changing road conditions.

If you’ve been experiencing headaches this week, it may be due to the weather.
Experts say weather-related headache triggers for some people include:
- Changes in humidity and temperature
- Storms
- Extreme heat/cold
- Dry conditions
- Dusty environments
- Changes in barometric pressure
In a survey by the National Headache Foundation, 3 out of every 4 people said weather triggered their headache pain and there will be yet another drastic weather change over the next 24 hours as the temperature goes from the double-digits to about plus 1 or 2 degrees Celsius.
The Weather Network says a far-reaching and potent storm, which has left destruction and dangerous road conditions across parts of the west, is now reaching parts of Ontario and Quebec.
