Update:
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula says the boil water advisory has been lifted and the drinking water is safe for all uses.
The necessary actions were taken and bacteriological water quality test results show the drinking water is in compliance with Ontario regulations and water quality standards.
Update:
The Grey Bruce Health Unit says monitoring of the water quality in the Lion’s Head drinking water system and frequent testing continues, after a precautionary boil water advisory was issued over the weekend due to a water main break.
The main that caused the issue was repaired on Sunday, according to a release issued by Public Health yesterday evening.
About 370 households were affected by the advisory after the main break caused municipal system loss of pressure around 10 p.m. Saturday night.
Public Health says the advisory will remain in place until water within the system is confirmed to be free from bacteria through regular and repeated testing throughout the system.
Residents affected by the boil water advisory will be notified once it has been lifted.
Original story:
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is advising the residents of Lion’s Head there is a major water main break, and a precautionary boil water notice has been issued.
The notice affects all those who use the Lion’s Head Drinking Water System.
The water will undergo tests to make sure it is safe to drink before the notice is lifted.
During this time, residents are advised to bring the water to a rolling boil for at least one minute or use a bottled water for drinking, making baby food or formula, gargling, brush teeth, rinsing dentures, making ice, puddings, juice or other food mixtures, washing fruits, vegetables or other food, and washing dishes by hand.
Residents should note the water is safe to wash your hands, bathe, shower, and do laundry.
The notice also says domestic dishwashers may or may not be enough to property disinfect dishes, and it is recommended you shut off the power to your hot water heater during this time.
Affected residents will be notified when the boil water notice has been lifted.
