Grey County has ratified a new collective agreement with its unionized transportation services workers.
County council approved several recommendations at its meeting on Friday to ratify a memorandum of settlement reached with Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1530. No immediate word if union members have formally endorsed the deal yet.
CUPE Local 1530 represents around 60 full-time, part-time or seasonal road workers who are responsible for tasks such as snow plowing, bridge maintenance and road maintenance.
The current collective agreement expired on May 31, 2021.
According to a county staff report, the new four-year agreement with unionized transportation services workers includes increases to the benefit package for CUPE members and wage increases of 1.6 per cent for 2021-23, and two per cent in 2024.
The total budget impact for Grey County is around $677,000 in total over four years.
A staff report says Grey County and CUPE Local 1530 have been meeting since July for negotiations. A memorandum of settlement was reached on October 7.
