Communities all over Grey Bruce marked Remembrance Day this morning with in-person ceremonies after not being able to gather in 2020 due to the pandemic.
In Owen Sound, about 100 people marched along 1st avenue west to the cenotaph, while hundreds more attended the service. The crowd spilled into 8th street east, a portion of which was closed for the ceremony.
Many communities throughout Grey and Bruce also streamed their ceremonies on Facebook or You Tube.
Today also marks the 100th anniversary of the poppy — which is distributed by the Royal Canadian Legion annually ahead of Remembance Day — donations made to the poppy fund support Canadian veterans and their families.

As we approach #RemembranceDay, please take the time to remember those that have made the supreme sacrifice and those that continue to serve Canada. #LestWeForget @CanadianForces @RoyalCdnLegion #veterans #BruceGreyOwenSound #ProPatria #22B #CplMitchell @RCRMuseum pic.twitter.com/AkscRQFhiF
