West Grey Police have arrested and charged a 38-year-old man with numerous offences after responding to a 911 call for help in Glenelg on Tuesday.
Police have provided limited details about the incident, saying officers arrived at a residence on Concession 2 and a 70-year-old man was found covered in blood.
He was transported by ambulance to a South Bruce Grey Health Centre hospital and treated for injuries police describe as non-life threatening.
Police say a 38-year-old man from West Grey was arrested at the scene and faces a list of charges including break and enter, assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, mischief, choking and forcible confinement.
West Grey Police say the accused, who has not been identified, was transported to police headquarters and is being held pending a bail hearing.
