The Owen Sound Junior B NorthStars Lacrosse Club’s Annual General Meeting is set for tonight.
The AGM will be staged at 7pm at Joe Tomato’s in the Galaxy Centre.
Those connected to the NorthStars relate that it’s crucial to the ongoing operation of the program that new members are added to the executive.
This isn’t anything new; not for Junior Lacrosse, nor for any youth oriented activity in Owen Sound or right across the country.
Parent-Volunteers are the life blood of any club and understandably, when the youngsters graduate from the various pursuits, the parents go with them leaving a void, hopefully one that’s filled quickly and effectively by the next group of parent-volunteers.
In the case of the Junior NorthStars, the more the merrier, but the absolute need is for 4 people to enter executive positions with the club.
The natural fear for a newcomer is that they will be buried under new responsibilities, but the reality is the Junior Lacrosse program is approaching 50 years of age and through the years a constitution has been established with a clear framework of how to operate.
Furthermore, there’s enough returning executive members who will be able to ease the transition for those coming on board and nobody will be stranded with a burdensome chore without guidance and assistance.
Again the Junior B NorthStars AGM is tonight at 7 at Joe Tomato’s.
