The City of Barrie has installed a new downtown crosswalk featuring poppies, the official symbol of Remembrance Day.
It is located at the crosswalk at Dunlop and Owen Streets, across from the Cenotaph at Memorial Square, which honours our fallen veterans and supports our military heritage: past, present and future.

“The poppy crosswalk is another way residents can honour and remember our fallen soldiers on Remembrance Day, as well as at other times of the year,” says Mayor Jeff Lehman. “I hope everyone will take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made as they walk by the poppies.”
The City consulted with Barrie’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch, and they are in support of the crosswalk installation as a way to remember our veterans and their sacrifices.
