It’s a big weekend for hockey in the region, starting tonight in the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League
In Meaford this evening, the Knights play host to the Ville Marie Pirates.
The Knights are 8th in the North Division standings, but with a proviso.
Meaford has played only 5 games this season, significantly less than everyone else in the division, including the Pirates who have played 9 on the year
Ville Marie comes into the game tonight at .500 with 9 points, just 2 more than the Knights who are 3-1-0 & 1 and truthfully should have at least one more point based on caving on a 5-2 lead in their season opener against South Muskoka
Tonight won’t write the book on Meaford, but it will give an early gauge on whether they’re capable of contending or destined to finish mid-pack or lower in the North Division
Game time for the Pirates & Knights this evening is 7:30 pm at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre
In the Ontario Hockey League, the Owen Sound Attack will travel to London to meet the Knights tomorrow for a 5th time on the season.
And starting tomorrow & running through the weekend the annual Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group Regional Silver Stick Tournament will be conducted.
There are 4 age brackets competing through the weekend leading to Championship Sunday at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore starting at 11:15 am on Sunday morning.
