Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.
Pete’s Auto Body; because we care about our community….
I really doubt the appearance by Kaleb Dahlgren Sunday at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound could have gone any better.
Dahlgren is among the lucky survivors of the 2018 crash that killed 16 teammates and associates on the Humboldt Broncos team bus.
And make no mistake, Dahlgren indeed feels fortunate and to that end he passionately stands up and easily talks about his life and the obstacles and roadblocks he encountered long before the crash and ever since the mishap.
I wouldn’t say that Kaleb Dahlgren is a polished speaker, but he is engaging and his presentation, marvellously supported by still frame photos and video is captivating. In the Bob Rutherford Hall, a crowd approaching 300 in number sat silently maintaining focus on the twists and turns in his life.
And that was among the many messages put forth; we ALL have swerves and curves in our lives, many that we have no control over.
We all have bad days.
We all have letdowns.
We all suffer loss.
Everybody takes one on the chin, or in the teeth, or directly to the heart at some point…That’s Life.
What counts is how we handle it, and if we struggle in the process of handling, what’s the issue, or crime, in asking for help in an attempt, as Kaleb Dahlgren calls it, to ” Enjoy the Grind ? ”
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
