The expanded styrofoam recycling pilot in Meaford will require a bag tag for curbside pickup starting this week.
The municipality says starting Nov. 1 any styrofoam items placed on the curb on garbage day to be picked up by Miller Waste, will need to have a tag and included as part of the three bag limit for disposal.
The municipality has partnered up with Transition Meaford for the one-year pilot, which started on Oct. 9, to collect expanded polystyrene for recycling.
Residents are encouraged to take part in the free program, by dropping off any of their styrofoam recycling at 87 Stewart Street on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the next date scheduled for Nov. 13.
The items which can be dropped off include rigid packaging for computers, electronic, appliances, and toys.
Note the materials must be clean, dry and not have any tape or stickers attached to them, and is not available for institutional, commercial or industrial use at this time.
Residents can install the Meaford Waste App to stay up to date with any changes to waste schedules or services.
