A stolen vehicle investigation in Orillia has led to drug and weapons charges.
The investigation began on Friday night, when officers stopped a vehicle believed to be stolen on Millard Street.
While searching the driver, police say they located drugs, an imitation firearm, weapons, cash, and other indicators of trafficking.
As a result of the investigation police charged, 38 year old, James Donald SEARS of Burford, Ontario with:
- Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code;
- Possession of an Imitation Firearm contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code;
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime contrary to Section 355(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code;
- Two counts of Breach of Probation contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code; and
- Two charges under the Cannabis Control Act.
The suspect was held for a bail hearing, remanded into custody.
