Owen Sound doctor Rochagné Kilian’s licence to practice medicine has been suspended.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s (CPSO) Investigations, Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC) issued the interim suspension on October 27th.
A suspension of her certificate of registration (licence) means Kilian is prohibited from practicing medicine while the restrictions are in place.
CPSO spokesperson Shae Greenfield says in a statement, “The interim order was made under the Health Professions Procedural Code of the Regulated Health Professions Act, which permits the College to issue interim orders where it has evidence that patients would otherwise be exposed to risk of harm or injury.”
Greenfield tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that Kilian can choose to appeal the restriction directly in the Provincial courts. If she chooses to do so, the CPSO would be required to present information to support its decision.
Greenfield says, “Although we are limited in what we can disclose at this point, additional information about Dr. Kilian’s conduct will be made available at the earliest possible opportunity. That may include allegations referred to the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal.”
Back on October 15th, Kilian and another Ontario doctor Mark Trozzi, had been barred by the Investigations, Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC) of the College from providing medical exemptions in relation to COVID-19 vaccines, mask requirements and testing.
After completing medical school in South Africa, and working in British Columbia, Kilian moved to the Owen Sound area to begin working at Grey Bruce Health Services in 2017.
Kilian resigned from her job as an ER doctor at Grey Bruce Health Services in August 2021.
She has been an outspoken critic of the provincial and local system’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kilian had recently set up a page on crowdfund.ca with the goal of raising $2 million for what she described on the website called “Operation Hope” as an, “Initiative to establish an Integrative Lifestyle Medical Facility for disenfranchised patients in Grey County.” As of October 28th, about $18,000 is listed as having been raised.
