The City of Owen Sound is discontinuing the temporary Midtown transit route.
City officials say the route will be discontinued as of Oct. 31 after having been introduced at the beginning of the year to ease the demand of the East Bayshore route due to Covid ridership limits.
The route was supposed to be discontinued at the end of March, but it was extended for a couple of extra months.
The funding provided through the Safe Restart Transit Funding Program, has been exhausted, resulting in the closure of the route.
As part of the city’s Transit Optimization Review, the area covered by the Midtown route, along with the existing fixed route system is being reviewed.
